This is Tyler Blevins, or "Ninja", as he's known in the gaming world, who gained huge notoriety last week when he streamed a game of Fortnite on Twitch with Drake, Lil Yachty, and Steelers receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, which brought a record 621,000 concurrent viewers.
In an interview with CNBC, Ninja revealed that he makes nearly half a million dollars per month through Twitch streaming. The professional streamer also informed CNBC that there were some moving parts involved, like sponsorships, but credited Amazon’s Prime partnership with Twitch in order to make this figure happen. Every “free” Amazon Prime subscription, which users have to give out to streamers once a month, puts $2.50 in the pocket of the streamer.
Ninja also credited the fact that he makes funny impressions and keeps the streams more entertaining that most typical Twitch streamers. Here's to parents who continue to preach to their kids that playing video games cannot be a career.
